Well hello again there strangers! Sorry for being MIA but I’m back! And in full force! Today we are going to get back on track with the spotlight on Laela Jeyne Patterns and the amazing Plaid & Boots Blog Tour. I’ll share some fab sewing patterns and me-made greatness, and you can enter to for a chance to win one of three amazing prize packages.
Thanksgiving is my absolutely FAVE holiday of the year. It’s the holiday were I get be casual and stuff my face. Yes, I will admit it’s the food that makes this day very special to me. As first generation American, my family has taken in Thanksgiving with open arms and added a spicy little Mexican twist. Not only do we get turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and rolls, but we add red chile, beans, rice and tortillas. C’mon… just admit that it’s your favorite holiday too so we can form a foodie sewing circle. PLEASE?!
As an admin of Leyla Jeyne Patterns I jumped on the opportunity to get a spot on this tour. Marisa’s patterns are FAB! Take my word on it. Buy ’em, sew ’em, LOVE ’em. They are insanely easy and super flattering. I heart this designer. And with this I was able to choose patterns to sew up to make my Mexi casual Thanksgiving wardrobe comfy with plenty of room to grow in (none of that unbuttoning nonsense happening here).
First thing’s first! FABRIC! Holy moly did Marisa get some awesome sponsors for this tour. I was lucky to receive two choice cuts of delicious cotton lycra from Art Gallery Fabrics to sew my pretties with. ALSO, Josh aka My boo thang has just started a business (shoutout to Moon Man Printing!) and is sponsoring a lovely sewing themed panel.
Yep… you’re reading that right. My fabric says EAT IT ALL. Ugh… dead. Art Galley how do you know me so well!? That little floral number you see under my foodie fabric is so soft and has such amazing stretch. Thanksgiving calls for stretch… A LOT OF STRETCH. I will admit, I’m hoarding the crap out of that panel. It’s my boos first printed panel and I can’t bear to sew it up just yet. Call me sentimental.
I chose to sew up two of my LJ faves for this tour, the Emily top and the Dani joggers. Words cannot explain how much I love these two patterns. They are a staple item in my closet and soon I hope they can have some cousins hanging somewhere in yours. I also decided to sew the new Sydney Slouchy Raglan. I followed the directions to the T and BOOM I had 3 fantabulous garments in no time. I decided to make an Emily out of the adorable floral that had enough stretchiness to forgive that third piece of pie I know I’ll be having. The pattern comes complete with a spectacular variety of options such as a cowl, hood, 4 elbow patches, 2 necklines, 3 sleeve lengths, and an accent triangle sides seam. Phew. I got tired just typing all those! I decided to go follow the KISS method ( Keep It Simple Smartie) and chose the long sleeved, scoop neck option sans fancy bells and whistles. Perfect top to start off my holiday. Just be the judge!
If you’re anything like me Thanksgiving requires two looks. One for pictures and to appear decent in front of the visiting family and the other that is for after you have gorged yourself and need to get ready for Black Friday shopping (which is the theme for another day of this tour WOOO!). Laela Jeyne Patterns to the rescue! In the amazing words of a gal in my LJ sewing group (hey Kim!) there’s way too much trunk on this Porsche! The Dani Joggers are bliss and fit my fluffy body like Marisa designed them for me and me only. Have I said how much I love her? These versatile bottoms come in short, capri, or ankle lengths and have pocket options as well as a maternity option. I pair Dani with her new BFF Sydney and out popped an after Thanksgiving feast outfit to die for (well I squealed when I finished). The Sydney Raglan, no surprise here, also comes jam packed with a plethora of options: V-neck or off the shoulder, 2 sleeve lengths and types, swing bodice, and hood. All of these patterns could really be used to make so many looks. It’s really quite bananas! I will be living in this outfit. Make sure to stop me and say Hi if you see me walking around it as it will soon be considered my daily uniform by many haha.
I had so much fun with this tour and can’t wait to sport my new me-made garb on Thanksgiving. If you like what you see and are thinking… I NEED those patterns. Go to https://www.laelajeynepatterns.com/?ref=544 and use coupon code P&BTOUR20 to get 20% off your order!
Make sure to check out the rest of the tour as Marisa has chosen the creme de la creme to participate!

I decided to make a pair of Birkin flares for my casual Thanksgiving outfit. I’m running out of time and haven’t even started, but it may turn out for the better, jeans I have to squeeze into may not have been the best choice anyway. The styles you chose are more realistic.
